Kevin Spidel is a political consultant that has worked for many progressive candidates, organizations, and the Democratic Party. He was Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s National Field Director during the 2004 Presidential primary season for the simple reasons of keeping the progressive voter base actively engaged in the Democratic Party. He left the Kucinich campaign to start a national organization to do just that called “Progressive Vote” which morphed into “Progressive Democrats of America” at the 2004 DNC Convention in Boston. He stayed on as the National Deputy Director until 2006 when he left to start his own consultant firm eventually managing well known netroots races like Christine Cegelis in Illinois 6th Congressional District and helping various other candidates get elected in 2006. In 2007 he moved briefly to Washington, DC where he took a break from partisan work and worked in an executive role for Amnesty International, USA as the campaign manager for their largest domestic campaign “The America I Believe In” in an effort to end torture and shut down the United States Guantánamo bay detention facilities (Gitmo.)
He has returned back to Arizona where he has launched a public affairs and new media firm, BlueDynamic, with fellow partners, Jason Williams, Jerry Duff, Bryan Buchan and Michele White.
Kevin embraces the culture of being a scientific, pragmatic, “hack” in regards to campaign strategy and execution. His politics are very much in line with the most progressive thinkers. However, he does not fall into the movement martyrism that is progressive organizing. His style of organizing is very much focused on real, quantifiable analysis of the electorate. His campaign motto “progressive pragmatism wins!”
Through his travels he has developed some great relationships with Public Realtions firms, Web 2.0 Startups, and various Social Network entrepreneurs. His blog, through these connections is reflective of some of these relationships.
